Lucia Yoga Retreat with Kacy Harnedy

1 - 6 APRIL 2018

Nature, comfort and Yoga in Southern Spain, Andalucia

Give yourself the gift of wellbeing in our nature and hiking yoga retreat where the Parque Natural Sierra de Grazalema rises from quiet rural byways like an apparition, the natural world takes over. Great buttresses of rock silhouetted against the clouds soar above a forested landscape tinged with green even when the rest of Andalucía turns yellow under a baking summer sun. A Unesco Biosphere reserve since 1977, according to BBC Travel, the best place to hike in Andalucia.

Two whitewashed villages serve as gateways to our yoga retreat center. Zahara de la Sierra is one of Andalucía's most striking villages, sashaying up a craggy, castletopped peak in the park's northern reaches. And El Gastor, also known as the Balcony of the Andalusian White Villages, its narrow passes connecting the villages lead over high mountain passes, drawing near to some of Spain's prettiest mountain scenery.

Enjoy beautiful accommodation surrounded by nature. Cool off after a hike in the mountains at our five outdoor pools with views of the sierra. Fresh vegetarian meals will be cooked for you daily. You can savour local organic produce in delicious Mediterranean dishes. You will practice a variety of Yoga styles with different instructors immersed in the peace of nature.

If you´re looking for a mountain and yoga vacation, this is the place for you!

GUEST YOGA INSTRUCTOR
Kacy Harnedy
kacy Harnedy

Kacy is originally from Massachusetts, USA and now resides on the New Hampshire seacoast. She grew up participating in dance and many athletics which helped her to form a connection to her physical body through movement. It was not until she walked out of her first yoga class did she realize how yoga began to change her mind, body and spirit separately and she realized they're actually one in unison. She dabbled in Kripalu, Bikram and Restorative Yoga styles for years but landed at Living Yoga in Concord, NH for her 200RYT studying Ashtanga. She teaches locally in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine with a heavy emphasis on vinyasa, breath work and body awareness. Asana alone is such an intricate piece; the feel, the posture, the movement- Kacy especially incorporates these parts of the practice so the asana benefits each individual.

She went on to receive a certificate to teach TBI survivors through Love Your Brain Institute out of Vermont, USA. Oftentimes we may not realize someone has had a traumatic brain injury because they may look like they're healthy and well however, certain queues and movements are not safe or possible for TBI practitioners. With proper communication Kacy can tailor class so it is possible for each individual.

Kacy has also had the privilege to teach in Goa, India at Earth Yoga Village, the heart of Palolem Beach, for two months which opened her mind in a whole new, spiritual way. Living in the jungle by the sea and teaching to all walks of life in the rawest form; Mother India She personally let go of many physical, mental and emotional weights that we allow life to pile on. Surrendering to life in its simplest form is so freeing. She watched as each retreat group left; light, peaceful and with an open heart. She also stayed and taught in Kalpitiya, Sri Lanka for two months to kitesurfing athletes which helped her to deepen her roots and re-awaken the thought that there are many types of meditation. We have Dhyana in yoga; state of meditation, but for athletes when they are on their board or on the field they are so intently focused and in the moment-they are aware, they have their own form of meditation. That appreciation was rekindled.

During her graduate school studies in the Science of Integrative Health Kacy began to explore a deep mind body connection and the remarkable benefits that simple awareness can bring to one’s life. In her personal time she studies emotional processing, quantum physics and the energy body which really builds upon Yin yoga especially. Being able to translate to practitioners how we are all truly connected by energy as they hold a pose and just feel is remarkable. The transformation that unfolds in class is such a force. Feel your body, notice your ego and allow yourself to let go of what you're holding on to. Kacy aims to create an inspiring and open space for exploration where students can face their edge with compassion and rid expectation. She invites her students to move, laugh, reconnect, but more importantly to find a home within themselves.

Her life map shows that she'll continue to travel all parts of the world, cracking her heart open more and more to help spread that love and energy to her students.
