7 Day Re-Balance Nature Park Immersion with
Yoga, Canyoning, Hikes, Massage, and Culture in Andalusia, Spain
With the Anjali Yoginis Maisie Sleeker & Pia Herberg / JULY 15 - 21, 2019
Stop and stare! Re-balance within the power of nature in a new moon week. Escape from your day to day life for a week and experience all the abundance a remote yoga retreat in a stunning nature reserve has to offer - immersed in the peace of nature with spectacular views and close to Andalusian culture.
Find balance between yin (relaxing and receptive) and yang (active and energetic) activities while practicing yoga for your mind, body and soul. Learn how yoga philosophy can help you create a more conscious and joyous lifestyle that allows you to live in balance and harmony with yourself and the world around you.
Yin & Yang:
We use Yin/Yang to understand hidden truths and balance life. Yin/Yang teaches us the dance of two being one; it is the idea that seemingly opposite or contrary forces may actually be complementary, interconnected, and interdependent and may give rise to each other as they interrelate to one another and allow you to re-balance your inner energies. Find stillness in the power of nature, and power in the stillness.
Nourish your Yin side:
Along with the morning meditation and the relaxing afternoon yoga classes you have the possibility of treating yourself to deep tissue, stress-relief, sports, chiro or Thai massage, relieve stress with a Reiki session (a Japanese relaxing technique that promotes healing), book a trip to the relaxing Turkish Hammam Baths in a nearby village or just relax by one of the swimming pools.
Activate your more active, Yang side:
Charge your batteries with energizing morning yoga classes, book a canyoning tour descending the amazing “Gargana Verde”, go on a horseback excursion through the surrounding mountains or take a hike to the “White Villages Balcony” and the surrounding mountains. Immerse yourself in Andalusian culture with a flamenco show and traditional paella dinner in one of the renowned Andalusian “white villages” or an excursion to Ronda, one of the most well-known white villages of Andalusia, nestled on top of a mountain and famous for its stunning landscape. You will also have the opportunity to advance your practice in a one on one yoga training.
Whatever it is that’s calling you to RE-BALANCE your inner self is here, right at your feet.

Surrounded by lush mountains and whitewashed villages, the venue itself is a collection of charming Spanish villas nestled in Andalucia’s spectacular national park, Sierra de Grazalema. The estate is four kilometers from El Gastor town, known as the balcony of the white villages of Cadiz, due to its altitude. The property is 250,000 square meters of land protected by automated security gates. A variety of homes and apartments are available and have access to several refreshing swimming pools, a beautiful yoga studio and a private tennis court. The five clusters of small apartments or country homes are separated by large distances to ensure privacy. The apartments are equipped with firewood chimneys, air conditioning, fully equipped kitchens with microwave, conventional oven, ceramic hob, refrigerator, washing machine, and LED television. Each apartment has its own private pool with incredible views of the mountains
We all start from where we are in each moment of each day. We, your teachers Maisie and Pia, will meet each one of you where you are. Whether you are a long-term yoga practitioner or an absolute beginner, every class is designed to meet your personal flexibility in mind and body.
So start your day in this amazing landscape with an early morning walk to the yoga shala and connect to your body, mind and soul in a guided meditation and an energizing Vinyasa Flow or Ashtanga class.
After a nourishing breakfast the mornings will offer the opportunity to join our workshops, giving you an insight into “what YOGA really is,” as a lifestyle. We also will hold a couple of group circles, offering you a chance to share your feelings and experiences with the group. We all came to yoga for a reason, and sharing vulnerability can make us so much stronger! After the workshops there will be time for relaxing by the pool, treating yourself to a massage or Reiki session or a 1:1 yoga session to practice specific postures or simply deepen your practice.
After lunch you will again have free time to do what you like. Just like the yoga classes, all afternoons leave space for your personal preferences so you can make this retreat a unique experience. Here is when you can book a visit to Ronda and enjoy a Hammam treatment, go on one of the many amazing hikes or horse riding tours in the surrounding natural park, or visit the nearby white villages.
At 6 pm you can enjoy a relaxing yin yoga or a yoga nidra class.
After a delicious vegan dinner we might just sit together and watch the sunset or invite you to chant some mantras and learn about the different meanings and goddesses.
What a wellbeing team! Both instructors are Yoga Alliance Certified Yoga Teachers (Ashtanga Vinyasa based), Massage Therapists and Reiki Practitioners. The perfect combination to meet all your physical and mental needs on different levels and guarantee your total regeneration during this retreat. Both Maisie and Pia are Yoga Nomads and Spain lovers who speak English, Spanish, and German (Pia). Classes will be in English but they will always help you to understand the classes (theory or yoga) in other languages.
Pia is a certified Yoga Teacher, a world traveler, mover, and lover of life. Born in Germany, she is living to travel the world and share her loving kindness and patience to all beings. She loves to share her passion and knowledge about yoga (and the ways to live a peaceful life) and the self-acceptance, peacefulness and happiness she feels while practicing on her mat. She teaches her own variation of Ashtanga Vinyasa (“Ahimsa Ashtanga” with a special emphasis on sensitivity to your body) and Yin and Restorative Yoga and also gladly delights you with a rejuvenating thai massage or a rebalancing Reiki session.
Maisie is a certified yoga teacher from San Diego, California. She has practiced many types of yoga but she specializes in Vinyasa /Power Yoga as well as Restorative and Yin Yoga. Her classes focus on developing concentration, balance and strength as well as fun and play because she believes that yoga, like life, doesn't always have to be so serious. For her yoga is not just a physical practice but a way to cultivate harmony and balance in both the body and the mind. Maisie is also a certified Massage Therapist and Reiki practitioner.
Andalusia is a land of contrasts. It has the mountains with the most precipitation in Spain, the Sierra of Grazalema in Cádiz, and the only desert in Europe, the Tabernas desert in Almeria, where the least amount of rain is recorded. For this retreat, you will be staying in the middle of the mountains, in fully equipped and charming rural homes.
The retreat is located at El Gastor, Cádiz, Spain. This is 1h 20 mins from Jerez airport, 1h 30 mins from Seville airport, or 1h 30 mins from Malaga airport. The surrounding areas include El Gastor, the entrance to the Grazalema forest named by BBC Travel the best place to hike in Andalusia. Enjoy beautiful accommodation surrounded by nature. Cool off after a hike or a horseback ride in the mountains at our five outdoor pools with views of the sierra.
To See & Do in the Nature Reserve of Cádiz:
Three whitewashed villages serve as gateways to our yoga retreat center. Zahara de la Sierra is one of Andalusia’s most striking villages, sashaying up a craggy, castle-topped peak in the park’s northern reaches and just 30 minutes away by car and its traditional Olive Oil Factory, unique in the country. The second, El Gastor, also known as the Balcony of the Andalusian White Villages, is a charming small town, just fifteen minutes from our retreat center by foot. An Unesco Biosphere reserve since 1977, according to BBC Travel, the best place to hike in Andalucia. The third, Ronda, sits atop the spectacular El Tajo gorge and is the largest of Andalusia’s town fame was spread further by American literary figures Ernest Hemingway and Orson Welles who spent much time within the town limits of Ronda and southern Spain.
