Jess Rose: Elevate Yoga Retreat

Granada Spain, 27 Nov - 3 Dec 2017

When I think of Spain, images of rolling countryside, warm breezes, amazing food and wine, sunshine, and a culture like none other come to mind. It’s a country most people only dream of visiting. I had the opportunity to live here for 9 months in 2014, and fell head over heels in love - with the people, the attitude, the positivity, the warmth, and the pure joy radiating from the country’s very heart outwards in all directions. I climbed the hills daily, looked out over the sprawling countryside and vastness of the sea, and felt truly uplifted - physically and mentally. This getaway is to invite in the feeling of being elevated, and from this different vantage point, seeing the bigger perspective and remembering the beauty that surrounds us.

The south of Spain is a simmering blend of cultures - the result of hundreds of years of conquests, invasions, and settlements. In modern times, that translates into an exotic, mysterious, and awe-inspiring mix of Arabic, Persian, Jewish, Moor, African, and European cultures, among others. Granada has it all, plus the beauty of the snow-capped Sierra Nevada mountains, sunny Mediterranean beaches, Turkish baths, Moroccan bazaars, flamenco, tapas, and one very special guest...our yoga retreat!

I am beyond thrilled to be guiding you on this 7 day retreat in a country that I love so much. I want this 7 days to be your perfect getaway - a harmonious mix of physical challenges and breakthroughs, deep relaxation, and time to explore Spain's diverse culture. For that reason, I left room for you to pick and choose what your free time will look like, so you feel completely fulfilled, invigorated, and rested by the end of this fantastic journey. I can’t wait to welcome you to the Elevate Retreat 2017 in this little slice of paradise!

YOGA + MEDITATION

THE INVESTMENT IN YOURSELF

Daily, all-levels yoga classes will be held in the mountain shala, a geometrical sanctuary with a panoramic view and a rustic wooden dome roof. For beginner to advanced yogis, Jess caters every class to your level, your goals, and your needs. In the mornings, we will move with the breath, vinyasa style, exploring fun poses in a light-hearted, non-aggressive way. Evenings will be slower, more introspective classes based on the Yin/Yang model of blending slow, meditative movement, plus lots of longer holds in the poses, for deep sensations and release of the muscles and fascia. Meditation will be offered most evenings as a way to bring a bit of extra love and mindfulness into our day and add a sense of connection to ourselves and our surroundings.

RETREAT CENTER + FOOD

Where we stay: Granada Retreat Center. The Granada Retreat Center offers minimalist rooms with free Wi-Fi, a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, and a lovely outdoor terrace in the gardens.

Included in the retreat price are 3 meals per day, made from scratch and with lots of love by our amazing in-house chefs. Note that lunch is not provided on arrival and departure days, but snacks, fruit, coffee, and tea are always free and available between meals.

Special diets are catered to in order to accommodate vegans, vegetarians, and those with food allergies. Meals always come with a drink - non-alcoholic or beer or wine in the evening, plus option to purchase more drinks at the in-house bar - just in case ;).

LOCATION

The retreat is located at Pinos Puente, Granada, Spain. This is 20 min from Granada airport, 2h 30 min from Sevilla airport, or 1h 15 min from Malaga airport.

If you wish to have an airport transfer from Malaga we are happy to organize for you both pick up and drop off in time for your flight after the retreat. You can also get to the house via train or bus to Granada. Both, buses and trains, leave Malaga or Sevilla city regularly throughout the day and we can come pick you up from the bus/train station in Granada.

ACTIVITIES

Organized Group Trips + Solo Activities + Free Time

Cater this retreat to your wants and needs by nurturing yourself with the quiet and the stillness of nature, or exploring the depth and diversity of Spanish Andalucian culture - we give you the freedom to make your time here exactly what you need it to be!

We try our hand (and feet!) at dancing Flamenco in a rustic, hole-in-the-wall venue to the haunted sounds of Grenadian flamenco music, guided by a professional, local flamenco dancer.

Afterwards, in a moody, cave-like establishment, we watch how the pros interpret this tragic dance. Live music, intense movements to castanets, this dance style encapsulates the tragic past of the city’s gypsies.
