Give yourself the gift of wellbeing in our Yoga and Muaythai Retreat in Spain where the Parque Natural Sierra de Grazalema rises from quiet rural byways like an apparition, the natural world takes over. Great buttresses of rock silhouetted against the clouds soar above a forested landscape tinged with green even when the rest of Andalucía turns yellow under a baking summer sun. A Unesco Biosphere reserve since 1977, according to BBC Travel, the best place to hike in Andalucia.

Two whitewashed villages serve as gateways to our yoga retreat center. Zahara de la Sierra is one of Andalucía's most striking villages, sashaying up a craggy, castletopped peak in the park's northern reaches. And El Gastor,also known as the Balcony of the Andalusian White Villages, its narrow passes connecting the villages lead over high mountain passes, drawing near to some of Spain's prettiest mountain scenery.

Enjoy beautiful accommodation surrounded by nature. Cool off after a yoga practice or workshop at our five outdoor pools with views of the sierra. Fresh vegetarian meals will be cooked for you daily. You can savour local organic produce in delicious Mediterranean dishes. You will practice a variety of Boxing and Yoga styles with Tammy Gaymon and Niamh immersed in the peace of nature.

WHY THIS LOCATION

For one week you will have the chance to practice with experienced teachers of both yoga and muaythai in the mountains of Spain. You will have the opportunity to practice yoga twice a day in a quiet serene setting that will encourage you to find your inner silence. You will have the opportunity to train muaythai in the great outdoors just like the outdoor training centers in Thailand.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

You will have the opportunity to practice yoga in the morning, have a gorgeous breakfast, train muaythai then enjoy a delicious lunch. There will be time slots for you to have one-on-one (or small group) training in either muaythai or yoga. You can choose to relax by the pool or enjoy a hike. In the evening we will have a light yoga class focusing on particular areas (hips, shoulders, low back etc.). Your day will finish off with another incredible mediteranean dinner. There are guided hiking excursions available. The retreat includes a one-day group excursion to see the local area.

WHAT WILL YOU GET FROM THIS RETREAT

If you love to travel but don’t want to miss out on your training, we offer you the best of both worlds. You will have the chance to travel, practice, train, meet new people, see new places and reconnect to nature. By the end of the week you will learn basics in both yoga and muaythai boxing. You will learn skills to take home with you for you to continue to practice at home or when we meet on our next retreat.

WHO IS THIS RETREAT FOR

No experience is necessary in yoga or boxing. Maybe you have been curious about yoga or relatively new to your practice. Maybe you have never given muaythai a try. Why not now? If you are flexible but not so strong or strong and looking to work on flexibility then this is the place to be.


LOCATION

The retreat is located at 11687 El Gastor, Cádiz, Spain. This is 1h 20 mins from Jerez airport, 1h 30 mins from Sevilla airport, or 1h 30 mins from Malaga airport.

We highly recommend you to travel through Málaga airport due to the transfers in a out from Malaga are included on the retreat price. Even if you arrive before the day that the retreat starts, on 27th April our vehicle can pick you up at Málaga bus station at 15.30. And if your arrival day is on 27th April the transfer will be from the airport at 16.00 We will also transfer you, with no extra cost, to the airport or to Malaga bus station the day that the retreat finish, on 1st of May at 12.00pm. However if for any reason you finally decide to travel through another airport you could also get to the house via train or bus to Ronda. Both buses and trains leave Sevilla city regularly throughout the day and we can come pick you up from the bus/train station in Ronda (with an extra cost).

Once you confirm your flight, please ensure to send us via email your arrival and departure details so we can organize the groups and vehicles for transfer the retreat group.

I started practicing Hatha yoga in 2000. I was an avid runner and loved indoor and water aerobics. At the time, I was a social worker working with children and families’, which was a busy and emotional job. A coworker talked me into going to take a Bikram yoga class with her. I took that first class and continued going daily. I noticed after a few consecutive days that I was much more calm and not rattled by things that would usually create a stress in my life.

I loved having a set sequence to practice. The world around us is forever changing. It’s comforting having something that always stays the same. In the years that followed I completed Bikram’s yoga teacher training, yin yoga training, 200hr vinyasa training with Yoga Medicine, the Living Ayurveda program and a host of other trainings and workshops that will all be incorporated in our time together.

I have been teaching yoga for 14 years and love the connection I get to make with students through their practice. As much as I love teaching in studios, I am excited to spend a more intense period of time with a group and lead an experience.

On this #traincation I will lead you through the very accessible and healing Bikram series of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises (note: the room will not be heated as in typical Bikram yoga studios). I will also lead you through yin and restorative yoga practices that will focus on different areas of the body in slow opening stretches. Come for an experience, leave feeling refreshed.
