“Immerse in the peace of nature, comfort and yoga in the mountains of Southern Spain.”
Take the gift of relaxation on our nature and hiking yoga retreat. Where the Parque Natural of the Sierra de Grazalema rises from quiet rural byways like an apparition and the natural world takes over, find yourself enticed into wellbeing. Where great buttresses of rock silhouetted against the clouds soar above a forested landscape tinged with green, feel the vitality of this area even when the rest of Andalucía turns yellow under the Spanish sun. Deemed a Unesco Biosphere reserve since 1977 this land is one of the best places to hike in Southern Spain.
The Sierra de Grazalema and whitewashed villages serve as the gateways to our Yoga Retreat Center which hosts some of Spain's prettiest mountain scenery. Our retreat center is settle in this picturesque land of diverse terrain with its narrow passes connecting the villages over high mountain ridges.
Being between the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, this dynamic area is home to unique plants and animals and has a slightly tropical microclimate. On the same day there can be warm sunshine, clouds or rain and directly a return to warm sunshine. From fascinating historical stories of the surrounding whitewashed villages to Neolithic tombs, a visitor to this province can do yoga in the morning, explore serene hiking trails, cool off in one of the five outdoor swimming pools with views of the Sierra, taste local foods and finally sleep with the silence of the mountain.
The accommodations are rooms in villas with views of the mountain, air conditioners and heaters and there is wifi inside the buildings.

THE NATURE
The villas, gardens, walking paths, and swimming pools that make up the Nature Reserve yoga retreat center are nestled under an escarpment and have a panoramic view of the Sierra Grazalema mountains. Fresh clean mountain air fills a visitor's lungs with every breath. The Andalusian sunlight illuminates the natural landscape and olive trees that dot the mountain side. One can hear the soft chirping of birds and the occasional bleat of goats and sheep that roam the lands outside of retreat center. Just being in this place of stillness brings a sense of peace and wellbeing like no other.
The hiking tour takes yoga retreat participants on paths around the mountain, up to the breath-taking view of the whitewashed villages and/or to the Giant Dolmen. From the Neolithic period, the magic of the Giant Dolmen takes us back in time and reminds us of the everlasting health of a land where people have resided for thousands of years.
You will need to walk the mountain paths to get around between your villa, the yoga shala, the main house and the swimming pools.
WHITEWASHED VILLAGES
The Whitewashed villages of the Serranía de Cadiz sparkle under the sunlight of the lengthy days. Brimming with history and stories of when the Arabs built the villages and inhabited the area up until around the 8th century, each one has its own feel.
Explore the architecturally fascinating city of Ronda with its stunning cliffside location and deep canyons. Visit the Puente Nuevo, gazing over the precipice’s edge. Known to be the birthplace of bullfighting in Spain, visit Ronda's bullring museum and learn about the history. Explore the winding streets walking down through the impressive gorge to visit the ruins of the Arab baths from Moorish life during the 13th to the 16th century in Spain. Taste local products like the award-winning Payoyo goat cheese, wine, and jamón.
LOCATION & TRAVEL
The Nature Reserve Retreat Center is tucked away in the mountains, located in El Gastor (Cádiz), just 2 kilometers from the village, and easily accessible from Malaga and Sevilla Airports, and from the Ronda train station. Transportation options are included in Lucia Yoga Retreats and we're happy to help you organize if you prefer to arrange your own transport.

As soon as the retreat is officially confirmed, we will notify all participants by email or Whatsapp that it is safe to book travel.
From the retreat center, Malaga and Sevilla Airports are each a 1 hour 30 minute drive. From Ronda, the retreat center is a 30 minute drive. The closest village is a walkable 2 kilometers.
LIZ O'DEA
Originally a native of Kerry and now living in Waterford for many years, I started practising yoga some 22 years ago. At that time I was working as a family law solicitor and looking for effective ways to manage a stressful job and the demands (& joys!) of family life.
Finding a Yoga class that was inclusive and welcoming was one of those key turning points in my life. Very quickly I realised that the practice of Yoga, in its fullest expression of asana, pranayama and meditation, helped build a strength and resilience that has served me in all aspects of my life.
Having developed a regular practice and eager to delve deeper, some 15 years ago I trained as a yoga teacher and then started teaching immediately. Having completed a further 300 hour training I am now a 500 hour qualified teacher registered with Yoga Alliance as a senior yoga teacher.
Since then I have also trained in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra and have been part of the yoga teacher training team in Alphazone Yoga School for the past 8 years.
I teaching a blend of classes both in public studio settings and in private. I also have the privilege of working with people experiencing early onset of dementia.
I have a deeply held belief that Yoga offers something to every body and so I teach in a style that is warm, welcoming and accessible to all. My style might be described as an alignment focused Hatha style with an offering of options to facilitate all bodies. The re setting of the nervous system through Pranayama is something I am passionate about so expect many breath practices that activate the Parasympathetic Nervous System ( Relax, Rest & Digest).
As my body has changed, so has my practice and my teaching - embodied awareness rather than rigid alignment.
Following on from my retreat in Andalusia last April , I am truly excited to meet new people ( and some familiar ones from the last retreat!) in the nature setting at Lucia Yoga and to move and breathe mindfully while also ensuring that there is ample time to truly allow the body and mind to pause, soften and reset.

Travel insurance is the best way to protect yourself from unexpected circumstances before or during your retreat.
